“Disarmingly inventive new work.” The Age (for The Suitcase Royale)

JOF and Bureau of Works present THE CABIN!

Wed 24 Feb 4:30pm - 4:45pm

10 minutes Powerhouse Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse 15yrs+

Part David Lynch thriller, part ghost train, part fright night drive-in flick.

Close your eyes and picture a run-down cabin in the bush. Something’s creeping outside. The power suddenly goes out and you realise you’re not alone...

Part David Lynch thriller, part fright night drive-in flick and part live performance sound mash-up, The Cabin! is a horror theatre show written by 6 year olds, for audiences aged 15 years and over.

Working with schools, councils and arts centres, JOF will collaborate with young people, delivering workshops that empower them as young artists while creating a dark, hilarious work that brings their dreams, stories and nightmarish visions alive.

Creative development support: Battersea Arts Centre & Creative Victoria.

Meet the artist

Joseph O’Farrell (JOF)

Joseph O’Farrell (JOF) is a multi-art performer, curator, musician and lecturer making work between Melbourne and London. JOF creates large-scale installation and theatre works with, and for, community. With a focus on accessibility and inclusivity, these works celebrate our diversity and bring people together in hilarious and unlikely situations. JOF strives to create a model where developing an artwork is just as valuable to the community as the final outcome. In 2015, JOF was the first artist to deliver an intensive workshop program for young people at the TATE Modern in London.

He is a founding member of junkyard theatre company, The Suitcase Royale, a trio that has been touring new Australian theatre works nationally and internationally since 2004.
