The Farm

4 dancers, a 1970’s Volvo and a stunt motorcycle rider lead a cast (that includes 25 volunteers) on a ‘joy ride’ of B-grade horror.

Drawing on drive-in theatre traditions, Throttle is an immersive dance-theatre production viewed from the safety of your own car. It’s lit by your headlights, heard through your car radio and seen through your windscreen. Frightening and funny in equal measure, Throttle takes audiences on a joy ride through the dark underbelly of Aussie car culture.

    ABOUT THE ARTISTS

    Run by artists, driven by art, The Farm is a dance company based on the Gold Coast with roots in Berlin. We are driven by a desire to connect to anyone, from dance and theatre virgins to aficionados and professionals.

    As a small company we rely on our partners to make work of impact. Our 5 year relationship with Bleach Festival brought us a Helpmann award in 2018 for TIDE and our long term relationship with Performing Lines recently brought us a Drover Award in 2019 for Cockfight.

    The Farm have often been described as a gateway drug to dance as we have a strong track record of delivering meaningful and entertaining dance to non dance audiences in non traditional spaces. Throttle works well in this respect as some people that are unaware that they could enjoy dance theatre are enticed by the structure of the event (a drive in performance).

In everything we do, we acknowledge that we live on Aboriginal land and constantly learn from the wisdom of our First Peoples. Where we are and the history that precedes us informs how we work and how we move forward.
