Amrita Hepi
Amrita Hepi is an award winning Choreographer, Artist and Dancer from Bundjulung (AUS) and Ngapuhi (NZ) territories. She has worked with leading Australian dance companies Force Majeure, Marrugeku and OCHRES and toured work in the form of performance and also video nationally and internationally through theatres and galleries in Australia, Europe and the USA.
In 2018 Amrita was the recipient of the people’s choice award for the Keir Choreographic Award and was named one of Forbes Asia’s 30 under 30.
In 2019 she is one of the commissioned artists for The National 2019 through Art Gallery of NSW, whilst touring work through Australia, Europe and America – and undertaking the Danceweb scholarship as part of Impulstanz in Vienna Austria.
An artist with a broad global reach and following Amrita combines her interest in materials/objects, the search for allegory and advocacy for first nations sovereignty with a compelling and diverse physical practice.
