Mīria is a writer, director, producer of theatre and film. An award-winning playwright, Mīria’s work has toured New Zealand, Australia, Hawai’i, Canada and the United Kingdom.
A founding director of Breaking Ground, a festival of new writing for theatre. Gathering Māori, Pasifika and global Indigenous playwrights, Breaking Ground develops new playscripts – reimagining storytelling for the stage.
Alongside Hone Kouka, Mīria is the co-director of Māori, Pacific and international Indigenous theatre and dance platform, Kia Mau Festival. An Indigenous led platform based in Wellington, New Zealand, Kia Mau will present its sixth festival in June 2021.
