Double Delicious

Contemporary Asian Australian Performance

Double Delicious is a sumptuous storytelling and culinary experience. Combining food and theatre with immersive visual and sound design, five storytellers reveal the secrets of dishes that are significant in their lives. These salty, sweet, sour and bitter stories, are infused with memory and lived experience. At end of each story, the audience tastes the dish.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Double Delicious is the evolution of CAAP’s hit 2014 Sydney Festival show, The Serpent’s Table. Current cast include the legendary Elizabeth Chong, who has taught Chinese food and culture for 57 years; writer Benjamin Law riffing on identity and authenticity; choreographer/performer Raghav Handa caught between western contemporary life and rituals honouring the ancestors; performance maker Valerie Berry coming to terms with family legacy; and Korean food and culture specialist Heather Jeong who first met her father when she was 9 years old.

Future presentations will develop and incorporate local storytellers in tour destinations.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
