Joseph O’Farrell (JOF)

Joseph O’Farrell (JOF) is a multi-art performer, creative director, and musician making work internationally from his home base in Naarm/Melbourne. JOF creates large-scale installation/theatre works with, and for, community that celebrates our diversity and brings people together in hilarious and unlikely situations.

Since 2012, JOF has been creating socially engaged artwork across the globe. He has been commissioned by The Tate Modern, making him one of a handful of Australian contemporary artists to be exhibited in the gallery. His work 10 MINUTE DANCE PARTIES continues to tour the world and recently JOF presented THOSE WHO ROCK at Hamer Hall and HOTA with 500 amateur musicians – significantly raising his profile as an international artist working at the nexus of performance, installation and socially-engaged live art practice.

    Those Who Rock embraces the general public’s love of live music and dance, throwing open the doors to over 500 community members to engage in a colossal performance project that gives everyday guitarists the opportunity to play on the biggest stage in the city!

    The Those Who Rock team connect with the local community through rehearsals and workshops across the city and prepares performers for an epic, once in a lifetime, concert experience. Those Who Rock requires no audition to participate—just a passion for learning, sharing, and performing live music. Sign up, and you’re in!

    Those Who Rock celebrates cultural, linguistic, age and gender diversity, showing participants, their families, and local communities that everyone can be a music legend.
