Junction Arts Festival (Junction)

Australia

Junction Arts Festival (Junction) exists to bring quality arts and cultural experiences to Launceston.

Junction is an annual Festival of extraordinary arts experiences in unusual spaces throughout Launceston held in the first week of September. In 2020 Junction celebrated its 10th anniversary with a 9-year tradition of developing, commissioning and presenting participatory and community engaged contemporary artwork.

Junction was first presented as a one-off event annexed to the 2010 Regional Arts Australia Conference. Junction filled a creative niche locally and prompted stakeholders, Events Tasmania and City of Launceston to support the creation of the annual festival, to the delight of Northern artists and audiences.

Junction acknowledges and respects the palawa people as the traditional and ongoing owners and custodians of lutruwita. We pay our respects to elders past, present and future, and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded.

APAM acknowledges the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters, communities, and culture. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and, through them, to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
