Rodney Bell
Rodney (Ngāti Maniapoto) is an award winning dancer and performer. Rodney received the 2017 Arts Access Award for Artistic Achievement, 2016 Attitude Award for Artistic achievement & 2018 Actor of Year for his work MEREMERE created with Movement Of The Human. Rodney has been dancing professionally since ’94 beginning as a founding member of Touch Compass Dance Trust, an integrated dance company. In 2007, he relocated to California, U.S.A, to join AXIS Dance Company, based in Oakland, where he remained principal dancer until 2012. Rodney provides a voice for people with diverse requirements and backgrounds.. He is particularly interested in arts access. Rodney also performed in Hurihuri in 2018 created for the Australian Commonwealth Arts Festival. Rodney was awarded the Ngā Taonga Toi a Te Waka Toi – Te Tohu Iho Pūmanawa award 2020. In 2018 Rodney performed Hari Hari as part of the inaugural true colours festival in Singapore. Rodney has just completed the 3rd national tour of Meremere across Aotearoa.
