Sydney Dance Company is Australia’s pre-eminent dance company producing and presenting high quality contemporary dance works nationally and internationally. With an ensemble of 17 dancers led by internationally acclaimed Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela SDC supports emerging and established choreographers to connect with local and international audiences. Beyond the stage, Sydney Dance Company has a broad range of inspiring and empowering community engagement offerings including Australia’s largest public dance program attracting 80,000 attendances annually, and accredited advanced training programs for aspiring pre-professional dancers.

 

    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    Ascent is an inspired triple bill featuring the reprise of Antony Hamilton’s Helpmann Award-winning Forever & Ever and two world premieres – I Am-ness by Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela and The Shell, A Ghost, The Host & The Lyrebird by renowned international choreographer Marina Mascarell.

    Brimming with physicality, Ascent tempers contemporary classical with futuristic experimentation. Full of electric movement and emotional force, Ascent is an arresting portrait of contemporary dance and its potential to move, excite and activate audiences.

    Brought to life by Sydney Dance Company’s superb ensemble, this triple bill is complete with inventive installations and magnetic musical scores.
