Designing Performing Arts Market Events that Work for Artists
Exchange: Panel Discussion
This session will explore the growth of artist-led self-initiated and self-determined initiatives for showcasing and market engagement. Approaching the task of engaging with international networking and market events with ingenuity and strategic clarity is key to both immediate and long-term success. Equally important is embedding market development activity with a renewed sense of respect for the artists’ values, centrality, and interest in reciprocity.
We’ll discuss case studies for self-initiated ventures that are both empowering and highly effective models. Three initiatives proposed and determined by the artists that are designed to emphasise the sector’s creative range and diversity, while leveraging connections between visiting and host communities to forge allyship and networks, exchange and celebrate shared aspirations.
