Folding Beijing (A Reading)

Bagging Room, Malthouse Theatre

Malthouse Theatre invites audiences and industry behind the scenes with a new work in development, made in collaboration with radical young voices from China.

Malthouse Theatre presents an exclusive insight into the beginning stages of a new adaptation of Hao Jingfang’s Hugo Award-winning novelette Folding Beijing. Commissioned by Playking Productions and adapted by Daniel Keene, Jingfang’s extraordinary vision of a hyper-developed future in which three cities coexist in one is brought to life through the story of Lao Dao, a garbage collector who attempts to cross the great divide.
