The future of community-engaged practice

Welcome to Footscray Community Arts Centre, Australia’s leading community engaged contemporary arts centre. We would like to share our visions for the future with you, and hear your aspirations and ambitions too.

You will hear from Artistic Director Daniel Santangeli and Executive Director Robyn Gawenda, on the artistic vision for FCAC. You will also hear from Asia TOPA artist, Mallika Sarabhai (SVA Kranti: The Revolution Within) on her political, personal and artistic perspectives on the future, and FCAC Elder in Residence and vibrant storyteller, Uncle Larry Walsh.

We have a 45-year legacy of community-engaged practice in a region representing 130 distinct ethnicities speaking over 150 languages. In the coming years, the arts centre will continue to strengthen its collaborations across Australia as well as the Asia and Indo Pacific regions through commissions, co-presentations and artist residencies. As our neighbours, colleagues and potential collaborators, we would like to hear your thoughts and aspirations for the future in this roundtable session.
