Park Jiha supported by Moopie

Immigration Museum

Play On joins forces with the Immigration Museum to present the ground-breaking Korean multi-instrumentalist and composer Park Jiha in Australia for the first time.

Date Friday 21 February 2020
Time 6-10pm

ABOUT THE SHOW

With a practice grounded in Korean classical music, Jiha’s genre-defying compositions exist at the intersection of old and new, transcending the space between Korean traditional music and an otherworldly futuristic aesthetic. Jiha presents works from her highly praised latest album Philos, in which the artist performs her mesmerising compositions on Korean instruments including the piri, saenghwang and yanggeum.

Melbourne underground cult-hero DJ Moopie plays a high-energy dance-floor ready set to close the night.

“A deceptively enveloping soundscape that evolves from soft, ambient warmth and playful melody to brittle, bone-rattling tension” – The Guardian
