Rapture Bathtub is a live, visceral, intimate, epic, solo work performed in the salon and bathtub of internationally acclaimed environmental scientist and gothic glamazon Moira Finucane. Part watery grave, haunted house, and floating world; Rapture Bathtub immerses audiences in a waking dream of extinction, hope, penguins, propaganda, mass mortality and melting ice. Nosferatu, fairy tales, plague history, her journey to Antarctica, expedition scientists and one hundred years of propaganda – Das Sturmer to Facebook – inform the work, accompanied live by composer Rachel Lewindon on grand piano, theremin and Finucane’s Antarctic field-recordings.
The Rapture Suite was Commissioned by Mesto Zensk (Slovenia) and Climakaze Festival (Miami). Winner Climakaze Award for Outstanding Work in Climate Justice. Acclaimed from China to Antarctica. BYO penguin.
