YIRRAMBOI

4-14 May 2023

Australia’s premier First Nations festival, YIRRAMBOI, returns to Melbourne in May with a jam-packed program, featuring five new world-first commissions with a focus on experimental and evolutionary practices.

The APAM Office is partnering with YIRRAMBOI to support the artists to forge relationships with venues and festivals for future presentation, collaboration and residency opportunities.

APAM will host an online discussion panel with the five commissioned artists and collectives who will talk with guest hosts Dolina Wehipeihana (Kia Mau Festival) and Emily Wells (YIRRAMBOI) about their practice and their festival works, providing an insight into how First Nations artists are pushing the form of what First Nations art is perceived to be. The panel will take place on Thursday 18 May, 9:00-11:00am AEST.

Speakers: A Daylight Connection (Kamarra Bell-Wykes and Carly Sheppard), David Ardern, Isobel Morphy-Walsh, Mauriel Spearim, Stone Motherless Cold
