Mitimiti
Mitimiti is a new, full-length dance work drawing upon the strength of Atamira’s collaborative network. The work features choreography from Jack Gray, AV Design by Louise Potiki Bryant, lighting by Vanda Karolczak and sound by composers and musicians Nga Tae (Paddy Free, Waimihi Hotere, Richard Nunns and Horomono Horo). Ralph Hotere’s series of Black Paintings provide inspiration for this work as his whanaunga Jack Gray explores whakapapa (geneology), histories, waiata (song) and korero (research) from Te Rarawa hapu Ngati Hokokeha and Ngati Manu (tribes of Northern New Zealand.) An excerpt of Mitimiti will be performed as part of Atamira Dance Company’s KAHA tour in June 2012 which will also feature work from Artistic Director Moss Patterson.
