Die Roten Punkte are Astrid and Otto Rot, Berliner electro-indie rockers, and self-proclaimed “Best Band in the World”. This dysfunctional, squabbling, co-dependent pair, travel the world with their music and their disconcerting mid-Atlantic accents. At their insistently spectacular concerts, their personalities take a backseat for a moment, to a thumping, leaping, buzzing assault of post-pop-punk RAWK.

Borrowing visual and performative motifs from large-scale rock concerts, DRP is a satirical play on the crafted pop persona, on Australia's obsession with acts from overseas, and on the sub-cultures that borrow their images from music personalities.

Kunst Rock (Art Rock) is DRP’s elaborate, high concept art rock album. New songs include classic garage rock a la The Pixies, an improvised soundscape (ouch!), a song titled “Untitled” and, inevitably, a mini rock-opera. It’s Dark Side of the Moon, DRP-style. Audiences at DRP performances have always been delightfully diverse, from young emos and hipsters to baby boomers and even octogenarians (one memorable 88 year old from Winnipeg saw the show twice and bought a CD and T-Shirt!).

Since 2007 DRP has performed at the Sydney Opera House, Brisbane Powerhouse, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Victorian Arts Centre, Perth International Arts Festival, Auckland International Arts Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Total Theatre Award nomination), various venues in New York City (08, 09, 10), Spoleto Festival Charleston, Ann Arbor Summer Festival, and toured extensively throughout Canada (07, 08, 09, 10, 11).

Their second show Super Musikant (Super Musician) won numerous awards at festivals around the world including being nominated for 4 Green Room Awards and winning Best Production, Cabaret 2008 in Melbourne, Best English Production, Montreal Fringe, Best Comedy, Victoria Fringe and Most Outstanding Production, Ottawa Fringe.

Kunst Rock (Art Rock) won ‘Best In Fest’ in Winnipeg, Canada and Best Comedy in Victoria BC during 2010 and was nominated for two Cabaret Greenroom Awards for Best Ensemble and Best Original Songs. The show has undertaken further international touring during 2011.
