SHOWCASE
If you have a production ready to tour, you can apply to present it as a full-length performance, a 25-minute excerpt, or a Club 7-12 minute excerpt Showcase during APAM 2014.
Key Selection Criteria
All Showcase applications will be assessed against the following key criteria:
- Artistic Excellence
- Strategic market development plan in the context of APAM
- Tour readiness
For further details on these criteria, please see the FAQ section.
Eligibility
You are eligible to apply for a Showcase slot if you:
- are a professional Australian or New Zealand based performing artist or company. This includes international collaborations, where the applying artist or company is based in either Australian or New Zealand.
- are available to showcase your work at APAM on any day between 18 - 22 February 2014 (this allows for flexibility in scheduling).
- can provide high quality promotional materials for promotion in the APAM Guide and website.
- have professional representation or management in attendance throughout the five days of APAM (successful applications will receive one complimentary delegate pass for this purpose). If selected for the APAM program, this person must be available to introduce the work (in one minute or less) on stage prior to the performance.
- can meet the costs of attending and showcasing at APAM (e.g. travel, accommodation and freight). APAM provides the performance venue and basic technical requirements and crewing, but no financial assistance or fees. Contact the APAM representative at your state or territory arts agency to enquire about assistance that may be available.
- are in a position to consider any reasonable touring invitations that may arise from a showcase at APAM.
- can submit a letter of support (maximum one page) from a leading industry peer that supports your work. The letter should address their reason for supporting your work amongst other things.
Your work is eligible for a showcase if it is:
- finished – in most cases has previously premiered - and professional. Showcase is not open to works in development.
- current – e.g. premiered in a completed form within the last two years, or will premier prior to APAM 2014.
Work suitable for a 25-minute excerpt Showcase should be able to be set up in 20 minutes or less, and performed after one technical rehearsal. There may be some flexibility in set up time dependent on the demands of the production and the venue selected to stage the work. More time will be allocated for set up should your work be selected for a full-length performance.
Please note: there will be no set up time allowance for Club 7-12 minute excerpt showcases.
PITCH
If you have a work in development, you can apply to introduce this work to delegates and peers as an official pitch during APAM 2014. A pitch is a great way for you to connect with international and national presenters interested in new works in development and discuss future touring opportunities, productions, and/or investments.
Key Selection Criteria
Pitches will be selected based on the following key criteria:
- the quality of the concepts and potential market, and/or audience demand.
- the pitch can be delivered behind a lectern and microphone by one to three creatives, using still images, short video clips, or stage/set models as props, low tech excerpts, DVD show reels, projections/plans and drawings, audio tracks, PowerPoint slides, etc.
Pitch sessions will be hosted by an MC who introduces the selected artists and companies.
