Having taken place on the lands of the Kaurna people, the APAM Gathering at DreamBIG was held across the opening days of DreamBIG. With a distinct focus on works for multigenerational audiences, the Gathering invited participants from across the country and internationally to engage in a digital and IRL program of performance, dialogue and networking.

The APAM Gathering at DreamBIG Festival brought together a collection of virtual and real-life happenings highlighting the works, ideas and ambitions of Australian and New Zealand artists and companies.

Digital: 14 – 24 May 2021
In Person:  19 – 23 May 2021

DreamBIG Children’s Festival is one of South Australia’s most loved and longest-running arts events for children, schools, and families, connecting multigenerational audiences through joy and fun.

The APAM Gathering at DreamBIG focuses on work for multigenerational audiences. It recognises that artists know their audiences and are creating inclusive experiences for them and within the shared experience of the work; it holds the potential for impact, empathy and play.

This program will bring together 250 participants from across the country and internationally to engage in a Digital and In Person program of performance, dialogue and networking.

For our second APAM Gathering we find ourselves in new conditions. Like many in the sector, we have had to change the way we work to stay connected and active with our peers. The global performing arts community faces continued challenges from disruption and these concerns are at the forefront of this Gathering’s purpose.

Together we’ll focus on how we can work together to shift power structures, build community locally and abroad and reflect on the playfulness and curiosity we experience through artistic expression. Our aim throughout the Gathering is to build and strengthen our relationships to one another through exchange and discovery.
