Australia Council for the Arts

The Australia Council is the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body. The Council’s mission is to support the creation, presentation and appreciation of distinctive cultural works by providing assistance to Australian artists and making their works accessible to the public.

The Australia Council plays a crucial role in supporting artists and arts organisations to create and present their work, improve and develop their skills, and tour and promote their work to wider audiences. It also develops new audiences for the arts nationally and internationally, and promotes an appreciation of the value of the arts to Australians.

The Australia Council is the founder of APAM and co-presents the market with Brisbane Powerhouse in 2014, 2016 and 2018.

Brisbane Powerhouse

A centre of contemporary culture, Brisbane Powerhouse creates unique events and experiences that cannot be repeated.

Soak up an atmosphere that merges old and new. Take in the industrial charm of the building’s power-station heritage and spectacular graffiti walls reminiscent of its days as a derelict haunt in the 60s and 70s.

Experience something different — any day of the week — with over 1,000 events a year ranging from theatre, music, comedy, dance, film, visual arts, festivals and ideas. Step inside Brisbane Powerhouse’s doors and you’ll see art from across the globe that you can’t see anywhere else in Brisbane.

Whatever brings you to Brisbane Powerhouse, it’s a destination that will leave you feeling inspired.

Brisbane Powerhouse is the host of APAM 2014, 2016 and 2018 and co-presents the market with the Australia Council.
