Antony Hamilton Projects and Insite Arts present Black Project 1

19 February 8:30pm - 9:05pm Brisbane Powerhouse - Powerhouse Theatre Dance Full Length All Ages

A dark, visceral dance work exploring matter, time and space

Antony Hamilton's award-winning Black Project 1 is a meditation on the connection between the gravity-bound body and the earth's elemental force. Two dancers, light, objects and sound occupy time and space, in a transforming environment that explodes perceptions of a static universe.

Extreme sensory reduction and distillation lie at the core of this enigmatic work - black space, black sets, costumes and make-up evoke a unique performance space in which dancers create presence out of absence, viscerally engaging with their surroundings. Shrouded in darkness, Black Project 1 reflects on the relationship between the inanimate and the living; gesturing to the chaos and instability of matter, time and space.
