Brisbane Powerhouse presents Opening Ceremony
After the Welcome to Country protocol APAM 2014 begins with the ritual of Ceremony; smoking and cleansing, preparing country and paying respect to our ancestors and custodians who maintained this land for many thousands of years, and continue to do so today.
The symbolic passing of the APAM 2014 message stick to the Artistic Director of Brisbane Powerhouse ensures a spirit of unity and reciprocity, and enables a safe stay during APAM 2014. It also acknowledges the ancient practice of trade, and the law of this land through Aboriginal custom. Celebrating living culture, our dance clans from the world’s oldest come together to warmly welcome you.
