New Dance Works

Booth Holder 1 – Collusion

Collusion are an award-winning ensemble of chamber musicians who, in collaboration with composers, a choreographer and dancers, create evocative performances underpinned by heart, beauty and warmth.

This original fine art music and dance ensemble recently electrified the Brisbane Festival at its sold out 2015 premiere season of the new chamber ballet Desirelines.

Desirelines are the improvised tracks created by people who defy the ways designed for them by others. Three musicians and four dancers use gleaming stainless steel tracks to navigate a digitally animated landscape of musical scores. Tour-ready, this powerful melding of contemporary ballet and new chamber music leaves audiences spellbound.

Desirelinescan feature as a double-bill with Collusion’s chamber ballet Transient Beauty.

Booth Holder 2 – Dancenorth

Located in Townsville in far north Queensland, Dancenorth is an integral part of the Australian dance ecology and a model for making outstanding art in a regional community. Building on 30 years of ongoing, stable operations and infrastructure, Dancenorth is entering a new phase centered on an adaptive and inclusive company statement: One Company Many Voices

A champion of the arts in regional North Queensland, Dancenorth ensures that its artistic and education programs penetrate into the region, whilst balancing the commitment to make innovative art that tours the globe. Dancenorth is establishing itself as a creative hub for new collaborative work in which a stable company of experienced dancers is led by artistic director Kyle Page.

Booth Holder 3 – Expressions Dance Company

For 31 years, Queensland's premier contemporary dance company has travelled far and wide, enjoying 22 international tours to 17 countries, as well as touring extensively throughout Australia and performing regularly in our hometown of Brisbane.

Our talented ensemble of six-eight dancers, alongside artistic director Natalie Weir, underpins our capability and reputation. EDC is proud to have received ten Helpmann Award nominations and nine Australian Dance Award nominations for our signature works by Weir. These trademark pieces are strongly individual, beautiful and highly physical, telling deeply personal and emotive stories through collaboration with live musicians, composers, designers and film artists

At APAM 2016, EDC will have available its full repertoire of work including Weir's The Host and 7 Deadly Sins, both of which premiered to raving critical and audience reviews in 2015 and are ready to tour.
