“Common humanity brings with it hilarity and heartbreak… powerful, life-affirming stuff.” The Age

A Malthouse Theatre Production, presented by Performing Lines HELLO, GOODBYE & HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Thu 25 Feb 4:40pm - 5:10pm

30 minutes Cremorne Theatre, QPAC 14+yrs

From 18 to 80, celebrating the times of your life.

Hello, Goodbye & Happy Birthday celebrates two very different perspectives on life – the clear-eyed lens of youth and the well-worn experience of age. Scripted from intimate real-life conversations with people aged 18 and 80+, this documentary performance is the creative culmination of a two-year research process by innovative headphone-verbatim theatre maker, Roslyn Oades. You are invited to a birthday bash like no other, with a cast of characters from the bookends of adult life. Eavesdrop on the candid thoughts, fears, loves and aspirations of those struggling with where to begin and how to say goodbye.

Playful and poignant in equal measure, Hello, Goodbye & Happy Birthday celebrates life well-lived with extraordinarily immediate and vivid performances.
