“Sisters Grimm tread the line between the frivolous and the furiously political better than anybody making theatre in Australia right now.” The Daily Review (on Summertime in the Garden of Eden)

A Sisters Grimm production, commissioned by Melbourne Theatre Company LILITH: THE JUNGLE GIRL

Wed 24 Feb 5:00pm - 5:15pm

10 minutes Powerhouse Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse 16yrs+

A wild, satirical mash-up of ‘civilised savage’ narratives from acclaimed DIY drag-theatre group.

Holland, 1861. Dr. Charles Penworth, a hard-bitten man of Science and Reason, is presented with a wild girl found in the jungles of Borneo. Penworth sets out to socialise the girl, and Lilith becomes a major case study in Nature Vs Nurture. But as she is taught to live amongst the high-society of Amsterdam, Lilith begins to wonder who, indeed, is the real savage?

Subversive theatre-makers Sisters Grimm present an anarchic, satirical interrogation of colonial history and the politics of assimilation – The Elephant Man meets She’s All That via Tumblr.com.
