Featuring Nunukul Yuggera, Malu Kiai Mura Buai and special guests from New Zealand and Canada APAM 2016 OPENING CEREMONY

Mon 22 Feb 5:00pm - 6:00pm

60 minutes New Farm Park, Brisbane Powerhouse

APAM acknowledges and respects the ancestral homelands of the Turrbal, Ugarapul/Yugarapul and Jagera peoples, the traditional custodians of this country. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and welcome all visiting Elders.

As part of our Opening Ceremony, we invite delegates to join us in a celebration of Australia’s oldest living culture – a culture grounded in rich, traditional practices through songs, language, ceremonies, art, dance and music.

APAM 2016 features a strong contingent of international First Nations delegates, and a program that includes diverse works from many incredible Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Maori and Pacifica artists. In the spirit of exchange and unity, our Opening Ceremony will pave the way for continuing fruitful dialogue about Indigenous art and culture here and across the globe.
