Performing arts markets can often be a little overwhelming, especially for first-timers. Fear not, THE LOW DOWN will give you all the necessary information to navigate APAM 2016 in Brisbane.

APAM’s Program Producer Dave Sleswick and arts market veteran Simon Abrahams (Creative Director & CEO Melbourne Fringe) will be your guides for this informal get-together held at the Brisbane Powerhouse prior to the opening event. Dave and Simon will offer you helpful hints for navigating your way through APAM ensuring you create the best opportunity for lasting and meaningful strategic relationships along the way.

This session will also offer a comprehensive run-down of the 2016 program, including information on venues, schedules and other necessary logistics, and will give you a chance to meet our amazing APAM Industry Consultants.

MEET THE HOST

Simon Abrahams

Simon Abrahams is Creative Director & CEO of Melbourne Fringe, and Chair of Theatre Network (Vic), an organisation he co-founded in 2009. He has held executive and senior programming roles devising transformational artistic and business frameworks in organisations including the Wheeler Centre, Arts Centre Melbourne, Polyglot Theatre and Gasworks Arts Park. Simon recently completed a research project investigating theatre for young people in Belgium, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands.

He sits on the Theatre Panel for the Helpmann Awards and the Contemporary & Experimental Performance Panel for the Green Room Awards. In 2014, Simon was awarded the CHASS Australia Prize for an Emerging Leader and, together with his Polyglot colleague Sue Giles, he was named among Arts Hub’s Top Ten Australian Arts Leaders of 2010.
