My Darling Patricia and Aphids present Crawl Me Blood

19 February 10:00am - 10:15am Brisbane Powerhouse - The Hub Interdisciplinary / Hybrid Arts, Theatre Pitch Adults (18+)

A sound installation that transports you to a Caribbean paradise

Settle back on a flamingo reclining lounge in an overgrown Caribbean garden and experience the immersive installation Crawl Me Blood. Inspired by the Creole saying that what ‘crawls your blood' are the secrets you sense but that are not told to you, this evocative new work draws on Caribbean music and literature inspired by the work of renowned Dominican author Jean Rhys, to have you longing for another world.

Part documentary, part gossip and made to dance to, Crawl Me Blood is a mysterious and scandalous provocation about how we romanticise the past, experienced through headphones and accompanied by Caribbean delicacies cooked by the creators.

My Darling Patricia and Aphids

My Darling Patricia (MDP) is a multi award-winning artist collective whose works are inspired by photos and found objects - the debris and residue of stories. So far, MDP have created six original productions and have worked with a range of presenters across Australia. Known for their rigorous, collaborative process, the artists draw on sculpture, painting, film and puppetry to create intimate experiences from highly visual performances and emotional narratives.

For the production of Crawl Me Blood, MDP joins forces with Aphids, an artist led cultural organisation that creates contemporary, site-specific works using performance, music and new technologies.
