MKA: Theatre of New Writing presents The Trouble with Harry

20 February 12:30pm - 12:45pm Brisbane Powerhouse - The Hub Theatre Pitch Adults (18+)

Secret lives, secret deaths – how well can you really know the neighbours?

Harry Crawford seems an ordinary, decent bloke to the neighbours. He and wife Annie are bringing up a boy and they all seem happy enough… until a strange girl comes knocking. Then the trouble begins. But how does it end in murder? And the revelation of something even more shocking?

The Trouble with Harry written by Lachlan Philpott rips back the curtains on the case of Eugenia Falleni, aka Harry Crawford, the notorious 'Man-Woman’ murderer of 1920s Sydney. Challenging the notion of the innocent woman duped, this new large-scale production examines concepts of perversion and complicity, of secret lives and secret deaths.

MKA: Theatre of New Writing

Founded in 2010, MKA: Theatre of New Writing is Australia's premiere international new writing theatre company with a particular interest in South East Asian works. A champion for new performance writers, the company opens its doors not just to playwrights and poets, but designers, choreographers, composers, installation artists, film editors, even people with no theatre connection or experience whatsoever. The more urgent, bold or wrong the script, the better. MKA make it happen. An increasing number of the creatives who have worked with the company in its short history have become established names in the industry and, alongside relationships with organisations such as Playwriting Australia, contributed to MKA's position of acclaim.
