Intimate Spectacle presents Whelping Box by Branch Nebula, Matt Prest & Clare Britton

19 February 12:00pm - 12:25pm 8:30pm - 8:55pm Judith Wright Centre - Performance Space Physical Theatre, Theatre 25-min Excerpt All Ages

An absurd visceral spectacle, carried off with absolute conviction

Whelping Box is a breeding ground for wild things; for dogs and gods. With ritual, endurance, dancing and fighting, two performers test their limits through a series of tasks that form a darkly humorous attempt to transcend the confines of normality. With the spectators seated around the action inside a giant square whelping box-cum-catwalk, nothing escapes the eye. Glorified acts of machismo, strange rituals and power games are performed with extreme physicality at close proximity, displaying our most primal desires.

Hypnotic and exhilarating, Whelping Box is like a dog fight, a pageant, a rave and a meditation.
