Contemporary circus in Australia continues to flourish and grow – check out all the latest in this Zoom In session.
If you’re interested in making and/or presenting contemporary circus and physical theatrework, you’re invited to be part of this limited capacity event hosted by international circus advocator Yohann Floch (Fresh Arts Coalition Europe) and Brisbane-based director Chelsea McGuffin (Company 2).
This Zoom In session will capitalise on the gathering of national and international delegates in the sector by providing a space to meet-and-greet, (re)connect and open discussion on current touring trends, market needs and creation of space for innovative practice. Join us for breakfast, robust discussion, listening and action plans.

Cost/
$25 (incl gourmet buffet breakfast and coffee provided by the Sofitel).
If you are accepted into the event, payment instructions will supplied.
If you have pre-paid for breakfast at the Sofitel, no further payment is required.

Chelsea McGuffin
Chelsea trained as a dancer at the Centre for Performing Arts in Adelaide, before switching her interests to the circus. She has worked extensively in the circus industry with both professional companies and community projects. That work includes: Circus Monoxide, Tony’s Imaginary Circus, Artistic Director for Vulcana Women’s Circus, Queensland Theatre Company, and from 2000 – 2008 with Circa Contemporary Circus, where she was the Associate Director. Chelsea was then the Creative Producer at Flipside Youth Circus for three years were she created a number of highly successful productions and programs for young artists ages 8 months – 26 years.
In 2008, Chelsea co-founded Company 2 with David Carberry. Here, they strive to create their own work which engages its audiences and pushes the art form to new places. She has created and performed in a number for the Company 2’s award winning works including Sediment, Cantina, Scotch & Soda, Perched and Kaleidoscopes. Her latest creation 'Fallot' begins touring in 2018. Some career highlights have been seasons at La Tohu Montreal, Bogotá International Arts festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Opera House, Sydney international Festival, and other venues in Belgium, France, Germany, Canada, UK, Hungary, Romania. Solo performances include Regarding the Joy of Others for the 2009 Brisbane Festival, Smoke and Mirrors 2010 Sydney Festival.
