Polytoxic and Metro Arts present Trade Winds
A captivating and visually striking dance installation performed on water
Trade Winds is a unique site-specific performance installation featuring Polytoxic's trademark innovation, physicality and striking visuals. Performed atop water this stunning collaboration re-imagines voyages, meetings and exchanges seen on the trade routes of the Pacific Ocean in a breathtakingly beautiful experience for all ages.
In this evocative work two majestic figures literally dance across the water. As they move they become giant screens illuminated by a world of exquisite animated projections created by contemporary artist Samuel Tupou. Their movements are drawn from traditionally inspired and ritualised gestures as their visual world changes and grows – from one of muted tones to a bright pop-aesthetic.
