Speak Percussion presents Transducer

21 February 2:30pm - 2:55pm Queensland Conservatorium - Conservatorium Theatre Music 25-min Excerpt All Ages

A journey to unchartered sonic territory as the microphone and loudspeaker take centre stage

Speak Percussion’s Artistic Director Eugene Ughetti collaborates with new media artist Robin Fox on a major new electro-acoustic spatialised performance work. Transducer is an awesome aural feast where the often-ignored sound characteristics of the microphone and loudspeaker are uncovered and elevated in the act of music making.

Kinetic sculptures and unorthodox modes of transduction form the musical material of this virtuosic and conceptual composition to be presented alongside Karlheinz Stockhausen’s seminal 1964 work, MIKROPHONIE I. Inspired by how sound energy is captured, transformed and ultimately reproduced, Transducer is a musical work for performers whose roles blur between that of technicians, operators and percussionists.
