Attending APAM for the first time? Yes. Feeling a little apprehensive about navigating the five days of the market? Definitely! Then the First Timers’ Program is for you.

By design a market is fast paced, busy and crowded with activity. APAM 2018 is offering a new program for first time attendees to provide you with guidance and the basic tools to better navigate the marketplace.

Those accepted into the program will be matched to an APAM Industry Consultant. Each Industry Consultant will engage with a group of eight first time attendees pre-APAM via an online portal as well as during a dedicated session on the first morning of APAM.

Outcomes

The aim of the First Timers’ Program is to provide

  • Deeper engagement in APAM
  • Expanded networks
  • Confidence and strategic approaches for attending future markets 

eligibility

The program is open to Australian and New Zealand first time APAM attendees.

First timers will need to have the following prepared before the first day of APAM 2018:

  • Business cards 
  • Two-minute elevator pitch
  • Video content and images relating to any works they are bringing to the market to reference or sell

Australian Applicants

To coincide with the launch of the Official APAM Program of Showcases and Pitches, the Expression of Interest (EoI) for the First Timers’ Program opened on Wednesday 25 October 2017. The EoI closes on Friday 1 December 2017.

All applications will be assessed by the APAM team, Australia Council and the relevant state and territory funding bodies and successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday 20 December 2017.

New Zealand Applicants

 Please note the application proccess for Creative New Zealand's funded attendance has now closed. However New Zealand applicants are welcome to submit an EoI.

Friday 3 November 2017 Creative New Zealand closes their expression of interest for funded attendance . 
Friday 1 December 2017  5:00PM AEST Expression of Interest closes
Monday 4 December 2017 – Friday 15 December 2017 Applications assessed with input from state, territory and country funding bodies
Wednesday 20 December 2017 Notification of acceptance into the First Timers’ Program
Early February 2018 First Timers connected with APAM Industry Consultant
Sunday 18 February 2018 Attendees arrive in Brisbane (if not from Brisbane)
Monday 19 February 2018 Morning session with APAM Industry Consultant
Monday 19 February 2018 – Friday 23 February 2018 Attend APAM
March 2018 Provide feedback on First Timers’ Program
