The APAM Team Recommends…from Cecile

We asked our Programming Producer, Cecile Lucas for some of her top Boorloo/Perth Recommendations!

Top Things To Do:

Spot a Giant: If you love tracking down Danish artist Thomas Dambo’s wooden giants around the world, one is taking a nap just behind Subiaco Arts Centre in a lush garden. It’s part of the Giants of Mandurah trail, though this is the only one in Perth—the rest are about an hour away in Mandurah.

Cooee Café by the River: Just a 10-minute Uber ride from the CBD, it’s the perfect spot for a coffee or brunch.

Easy Ferry Adventure: Take the public ferry across the Swan River to South Perth. You can visit the zoo or just enjoy a coffee with river views before heading back. The fare is only a couple of dollars!

Cottesloe Beach Fish & Chips: Classic seaside indulgence with a view of the sunset.

Fremantle Markets: Perfect for a weekend wander—fresh produce, quirky crafts, and local goodies.

Rottnest Island: A must-do day trip. Explore pristine beaches, meet the friendly quokkas, and soak up the island vibes. Ferry departs from Perth CBD and Fremantle

Perth Art Crawl: Admire art at the WA Museum Boola Bardip, Art Gallery of WA, and Perth Institute of Contemporary Art—all conveniently located next to each other in the CBD. Don’t miss the WA Art Gallery’s rooftop bar, open daily except Tuesday, for drinks with a view.

Jazz Night: If you enjoy live jazz, head down to Ellington Jazz Club on Beaufort Street for an intimate evening of music and atmosphere.

Lucky Chan’s Laundry and Noodle Bar (Northbridge): a multi-level eatery serving up delicious ramen, baos, dumplings and more!
